Events

I have an extensive portfolio of events and organisations which I have personally created and / or given my name and skills to.

I feel that development is key to our lives; change and innovation allow us to transcend normality. Our social connections are imperative to society succeeding. Therefore it is up to us, to enterprise and inspires those around us. Using the mediums of art, music, light, fashion, dance and communal unity. Please Scroll down to read about individual events.

Leeds Youth LGBT Pride - This was one of my first challenges, and my introduction to community risk assessment. (Baptism of fire). Leeds youth pride was the first ever West Yorkshire based LGBT pride specifically for those under 18. It gave the community the chance to see that LGBT issues do not just have to be concerned with, sex, drugs and alcohol. The truly sexuality is about identity and lifestyle rather than sexual activity. This event was a great success and paved the way for future events.

XS Hairy and Beauty - Online Launch - Which I still believe is the best independent Hair and Beauty Salon in West Yorkshire. XS is a den of innovation challenging modern perceptions of fashion. I contributed to its development by offering web based solutions to developing its already striking corporate identity. XS continues to win countless awards and maintains a strong exclusive clientele.

The Yorkshire Student Jurisdiction LGBT - It's not often you visit a buzzing city like York to find absolutely no representation for LGBT students. This was a labour of love, which united several schools, colleges and universities within the district of York and North Yorkshire. Offering service users Sexual Health, Equality Information, Counselling, Community Projects, Social Cohesion Projects and a general identity.

York St John's LGBT & Equality Society 2005 - 2007 - The first official LGBT organisation for York St John which succeeded in challenging the Student Unions approach to LGBT identity within the Student experience. We bridged a connection between the university and the student union. Combining Services and offering students the opportunity to voice their opinions.

York Pride in the Park 2007 - I was very proud to be part of the very first York LGBT pride event. This was in direct result of the Yorkshire Student Jurisdictions work to provide the city of York with LGBT identity. We overcame council and citizen objections, religious intolerance and general bigotry to provide a slightly less colourful and dignified LGBT pride events. An alternative to the stereotypical view of pride. This event allowed my predecessors to host a range of Media Supported LGBT events and on a now annual basis.

The Re-Generation - York 2005-2008 - This comprised of the creation of a range of social spaces for the LGBT community to socialise. The first of being a weekly Gay Club Night at Tofts - The night itself (passion) was launched with a champagne party sponsored by t.A.t.U who performed supported by Big Brothers (shock horror!). The supporting events where 4 pubs, two which subsequently transformed into a full time Gay Bar, the other two held weekly drag events, and provided a great vegetarian and vegan exclusive luncheon menu. The Re-Generation is a success.

The Cake Cottage 2010 - By 2010 I soon realised, what is an event without a Cake. Perfection being my middle name I assisted a friend in setting up her own business of creating Haut Contour Food Products. Work of edible art. With designs supporting Veuve Cliquote, Louis Vuitton and Les Fleurs Du Mal. The Cake cottage is developing its own personal business in the province of West Yorkshire.

The Necromancer - Tarot & Divination @ the Charnel House 2009. The Charnel House was created and run by Bryan and Marie McGowan Irving. This is a great Gothic twice monthly event. I therefore soon found myself a regular spot and offer Tarot and Divination readings in return for a donation to the night’s funds. I have had many pleased people return week after week.

Les Fleurs Du Mal @ The Charnel House 2010 - The Flower of Death, inspired directly by Miss Sarah Birghtmen herself. This was a decadent and indulgent party. Why? well, just becuase I can. With food donated by M&S, a wonder work of art from the Cake Cottage and specially grown Pure Black and Red Roses this events was well received and provided a record entry into the Charnel House.
